The band and I should be in Germany just now, promoting our last album 'Crow Hill'. Then, returning victorious, we'd planned to go into Chamber Studios to record the next (self titled) Meursault record... Well, we all know how that turned out.
Given the situation, I've decided to record the new songs, with drastically different arrangements, with what limited resources I have at hand. These songs will be released sequentially, as 3 EP's under my own name (since these will eventually be full band Meursault songs I thought best to make the distinction) and then, once we're all allowed back out to play we'll go into to the studio and record these songs as Meursault (The Band).

I only picked up on Meursault recently through their brilliant album “I Will Kill Again”. Investigating their back catalogue has been an absolute pleasure. There something about Neil’s outlook and slightly off kilter way of putting songs together that is endlessly compelling. This is illustrated on the track “Simple is Good” with great lyrics “First there was nothing then there was light. Still there was nothing but now we could see it .....” underpinned by appropriately unsettling keyboards. Meursault and Neil Pennycook are national treasures! markrstirling
